How to Have Beautiful and Healthy Eyes.

how to have beautiful and healthy eyes.

Applying mascara, eyeliner and eye shadow is really fun. Eye makeup can make you feel and look good. However, these beauty enhancers may end up being harmful to eyes if applied carelessly. Health issues can range from allergic reactions, to eye infections and with extreme cases, permanent blindness. Yikes! That’s really scary! So here are our advice on how to have beautiful and healthy eyes.

Cleanliness first! Before applying makeup, be sure your face and eyelids are very clean. Always apply makeup outside the lash line, away from the eye, to avoid blocking the oil glands of the upper or lower eyelid. These glands secrete oil that protects the eye’s surface. You might also want to wash your hands before you dig into your makeup bag and start applying eye cosmetics.

Be careful when trying new products! If you tend to be allergic, introduce only one new eye makeup or care product at a time. If there is no reaction, add another new product, and so on. If you notice an allergic reaction, find out what the ingredients are and let your doctor know. Avoid products that contain untested or harmful chemicals.

I know you want to look pretty but if you have eye surgery, do yourself a favor and do not wear makeup around the eye until your ophthalmologist tells you it is safe to do so, and then use only fresh, new makeup.

Never apply makeup while in a moving vehicle. Many girls do this to save time. It’s not worth it when you hurt your eyes or get into an accident. Don’t apply eye makeup on while you’re driving or riding in a car. Sudden stops can also increase the risk that you’ll scratch your eye. Lipstick is okay, but anything close to the eyes is a big NO!

Keep eye cosmetics outside of your eye — don’t use eyeliner on the inner eyelids, where makeup can get inside your eye.

Make sure that all eye cosmetic applicators are clean before you use them.  Wash all brushes and sponges frequently and replace them if you needed.

Never share your cosmetics with a friend. Her bacteria will contaminate your eye cosmetics, and vice versa. This is really tricky, because it would be so awkward to say no when your friend borrows something from you. But keep in mind that makeup is a personal belonging like a toothbrush… you would not let your friend borrow your toothbrush, would you?
