must know eyeliner tips

Eyeliner can instantly transform the look of your eyes. But applying eyeliner takes practice and patience. Here are some must-know eyeliner tips and tricks for every eye shape.

Know what the best type of eyeliner for you

Pencil eyeliners are the most commonly used eyeliner, they are easier and faster to apply than other types of eyeliner. They can also have more of a propensity to smudge and smear. When using pencil eyeliner avoid overly creamy or slick and stiff that it tugs at skin.

Gel or cream eyeliners may be harder to apply but they are rich, smooth application, long-lasting wear. If you have oily eyelids or will use it in humid climates, it is better to use gel or cream as they are less prone to smearing.

Liquid eyeliner is the most difficult to apply but it is also the one that will you the most dramatic look. It takes a steady hand to create a precise, defined line. Once you mastered the skill of using liquid eyeliner, you can make different dramatic looks with it

The right color for your eyes

Choose the perfect color that will accentuate the color of your eyes. Blue eyes can look more appealing with bronze eyeliner, green eyes pop with a purple-toned eye liner, and brown eyes look great with midnight blue. But remember that classic colors such as black, brown and gray eyeliners look better with any makeup-look and probably with anyone.

The size of your eyes

Keep the thickness and intensity of your eyeliner in proportion with the size of your eyelid.

For a larger eyelid area, a thicker yet softer line of color would be great

For a smaller eyelid area, a thin, intense line of color will define your eyes better.

For hooded eyes concentrate on lining the upper lash line with a very thin line

For drooping eyes, start with a thin line at the inner corner and gradually go thicker towards the outer edge swooping the eyeliner up, ever so slightly

For round eyes,  draw a squared-off line instead of a typical flick, it will accentuate your eyes better
