Hygiene is the most important thing when it comes to makeup. Avoid irritation, infection or acne breakout by remembering these makeup hygiene tips

Start with a clean face

Wash your face each morning before applying makeup to avoid trapping any dirt or bacteria in your pores. Once your face is nice and clean, you can begin your normal makeup application.

Remove makeup before you sleep

This is important as it removes a potential irritant and prevents bacteria from building up. Avoid irritation or infection, make sure your face is clean before going to bed.

Clean your hands

Wash and dry your hands properly before you start a makeup, and again after you finish. This prevents bacteria from being transferred to your eyes and prevents the natural oil found on your fingertips from causing breakouts on your face and around your eyes. Remember to dry your hands as this is equally as important – damp hands spread germs.

Don’t use makeup while you have an irritation or infection.

Applying makeup slows down the healing process by irritating the eye or introducing new infections into an already vulnerable eye. Also any make up you do use will become infected and you will have to throw it away anyway.

Wash your makeup brushes regularly

Makeup brushes and applicators are a fertile breeding ground for germs, so it’s important that you regularly wash make up brushes and applicators as this will remove any bacteria that has started growing there. And they are easier to use when they aren’t all clogged up with old makeup

Store Makeup Properly

Makeup can spoil in extreme temperatures. It is best to store your cosmetics in a cool, dry and dark place away from direct sunlight. Be sure that you don’t expose your makeup on direct sunlight and moist environments are a breeding ground for bacteria. Additionally, keep makeup out of hot, steamy bathrooms and other humid areas.

Don’t share makeup

Sharing isn’t always caring especially when it comes to makeup.  Makeup is an easy way to transfer infection from one person to another. So avoid sharing makeup to anyone even to your closest friend.
