Caring for Your Lashes this Summer

Eyelashes are responsible for keeping dust, debris and sweat away from your eyes, and it works double time during this season of sweltering heat. It’s giving us more protection than what we give it credit for, and now, it’s about time to give it the due care it needs. We don’t want to see a day of falling lashes, do we?

TAKE OFF THE MAKEUP

It’s a rule of thumb to remove makeup on any part of your face, and eyelashes are no exception. Like normal hair on your scalp, eyelashes can dry up and become brittle if not properly cared for. It gets worst during the sweating season when bacteria builds up. This could naturally lead to breakage and even eye infection. So before going to bed, take out your eye make-up remover and cotton balls, and dab the solution gently on your lashes and eyes.

CONDITION IT

You’ve taken out the makeup, now, just before you close those eyes, it would also be great to first apply castor oil, coconut oil or petroleum jelly to your lashes. You can apply these using a clean mascara wand or a cotton ball. This conditioning technique can help bring out longer, fuller lashes for you.

SHADE THOSE EYES

If you plan on being outside in the sun for all hours of the day, try to keep your sunglasses on to help your lashes avoid having to do all the work of protecting your eyes from all harmful elements outdoors. Direct contact from the sun can also dry out your lashes, causing them to eventually fall off.

USE SAFE AND EFFECTIVE MASCARA

Most mascaras are full of dye and chemicals that could stunt the natural growth of your luscious lashes, so be careful of what you buy and apply. Make sure to look for products that are not only giving you the instant lash volume that you want, but also the right amount of gentle care that your lashes deserve. For instance, Lash Factory’s 3D Fiber Lash Mascaras are made of 100% natural fibers taken from green tea, so you can be sure that it will not harm your eyelashes in any way.
