Pros and Cons of Eyebrow Threading, Tweezing and Waxing

It’s not a secret that one is willing to do almost anything just to achieve the perfect eyebrows. Aside from perfecting the application of brow products like gels and liners, there is also the maintenance to be considered. Nowadays, you may choose between three options: threading, tweezing or waxing. Here, we will be discussing the pros and cons of all three.

THREADING

Threading is done by twisting a length of thread around the fingers of a beautician and moving the fingers like scissors where eyebrow hair may be pulled from the roots cleanly and in one go. The results are known to last for about three to four weeks which is considerably longer than the other methods. Although a lot of time and effort goes into eyebrow threading, this also means that you will most likely get the eyebrow shape that you have always wanted. A known disadvantage, though, is the threading pain. This completely depends on the one who will be doing the threading and your pain tolerance. With the best beauticians, you won’t even feel anything and before you know it, the process is done; while others may cause tears going down the eyes. The first threading experience is known to be the most painful, so in time, you will get used to it. Prices of threading depends on the salon but is usually offered at a reasonable price.

TWEEZING

In tweezing, a pair of metal tweezers is used to manually pluck eyebrow hair from the roots. This is ideal if the area coverage is only small. Although it can be time consuming, tweezing gives you precision and more control. Known side effects include skin getting a little red or sore due to irritation, but nothing a little cooling gel can’t fix. Slight stinging sensation can be felt during the process. This method is more DIY than the others.

WAXING

Waxing is the removal of hair through the application of hot wax to the skin and then ripping off the wax along with the hair from the root. It leaves the skin feeling smooth and soft because the hair is removed from the follicle and not cut, like in other methods. It is also known to be time-saving  as it only takes an average of 15 minutes to or even less to wax your eyebrows. Waxing is also more costly than the other two.
