Enemies of Gorgeous and Healthy Lashes

Don’t you just hate seeing your lashes fall out? If your lashes tend to fall out often, there are things you have been doing or not doing that may have been causing it.  Be sure to remember these enemies of gorgeous and healthy lashes.

Makeup residue

It is important to remove all traces of eye make-up before bed, especially heavy or waterproof formulations. Makeup residue can cause irritation or allergy, thus lead to lashes fall out. Be sure to clean your face before going to bed and applying makeup.

Frequent use of waterproof eye makeup

Waterproof eye makeup, especially mascara is not good for everyday use. The same ingredients used to make this type of mascara last longer can dry out your lashes, making them more brittle and apt to breakage.

Using eyelash curler after applying mascara

Never use curler after the mascara has been applied. When your eyelashes are coated with mascara, they will stick to the curler, and being wet from mascara, they are more brittle and vulnerable to even slight tugging, and breakage

Old eyelash curler pads

The rubber lining on your eyelash curler is not a decoration. It’s created to preserve your lashes. When left bare, eyelash curlers can do some major damage to lashes and eyelids. It’s important to clean them to avoid bacteria build up and also replace them when needed as they get thinner and thinner in time.

Old Makeup

Be sure to throw away makeup if the are 6 months and up old (or as instructed by manufacturer). It’s is important to avoid using old makeup as these products tends to host bacteria once they stay for long. Be sure to replace your makeup, especially eye makeup after 6 months.

Excessive Eye Rubbing

Rubbing the eyes can accelerate lash loss and can also encourage wrinkles to form. Avoid rubbing your eyes at all, but if you must – be careful. Be very gentle and be sure to wash your hands first to avoid infection

False eyelashes

False eyelash glue can cause serious allergic reactions to the skin, but most importantly, the most sensitive area of the face. It can also create tension on the eyelid and natural eyelashes which, in turn, also adds a factor to why natural eyelashes fall out when wearing false eyelashes.
